About Sue/All Hooked Up Crochet

Hi, I'm Sue — the hands and heart behind All Hooked Up.

My crochet story began at the age of ten, sitting with my grandmother in a tiny village in Weardale, County Durham. There wasn't much else to do in that lovely village, to be honest— but there were plenty of sheep, and I like to think that's where my love of wool truly began. Locally sourced, of course!

We didn't have a lot of money back then, so I may have occasionally unravelled a family garment or two in pursuit of more yarn to practise with. This did not always go down well with my parents and sibling!

Fifty years on, I'm still completely hooked (pun very much intended). After a long and demanding career in the NHS, crochet became my therapy, my creative outlet, and ultimately, my means of connecting with others, via holding Markets and volunteering in a local Craft Shop.  What began as a childhood obsession in the Durham hills has grown into something I wanted to share with others.

Retirement opened a new chapter entirely.

With more time to create, I combined my love of crochet with a newfound passion for music festivals — a passion that began when I started by chaperoning my twin daughters to their very first festivals. What started as a mum's duty quickly became an obsession of a different kind.

I began designing and making festival-style clothing and accessories, and that creative spark is very much alive today. You can even find my handmade pieces featured in my daughter's wonderful festival fashion boutique, Festigal — a collaboration that makes me incredibly proud. Every piece I make is handcrafted with care, using quality materials and five decades of practice behind every stitch. From crochet bralettes and tops to bags, accessories, baby items and seasonal gifts — everything is made in small batches or as a unique one-off, so what you're getting is genuinely individual.
